Wine-making represents one of the main occupations, main sources of income and employment for local farmers in Kachreti Municipality. Wine-making is one of leading vocations at Kachreti Public College “Aisi”

So far, students of the College did not have an opportunity to translate theoretical knowledge in lab practice. Because of lack of necessary infrastructure, local farmers were unable to examine the quality of the produced wine which in turn created obstacles on local, regional and national markets.

In order to respond to the abovementioned challenge, wine laboratory was set up on the infrastructural base of the College with the initiative of Public College “Aisi” and financial and technical assistance of GIZ Private Sector Development Programme. This is a good example of vocational education meeting standards of changing labor market. 

The laboratory will prepare qualified specialists. They will serve five municipalities in Kakheti. The laboratory also offers the service of examining wine quality according to 19 parameters. This will encourage wine selling on local markets.
