Inter-Agency Commission meets School Principals of Nadzaladevi district
29.03.2013
As Tamar Kintsurashvili, Head of Inter-Agency Commission for Free and Fair Elections stated, United National Movement provided the Commission with the information on impediments they have experienced in the process of formation of district commissions during the by-elections in Nadzaladevi district. Namely, 27 teachers participating in the working process of the district commissions on behalf of United National Movement, were advised by school principals to abstain from cooperation with the opposition party.

Following the request of the Commission, the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia contacted school principals of Nadzaladevi district, but they denied the facts mentioned above. On March 29, with the initiative of Inter-Agency Commission for Free and Fair Elections, representatives of the Commission and the Ministry held a meeting with the school principals and clarified improper character of threatening teachers on the grounds of their political preferences and activities to them.

School teachers have right to decide whether they want to get involved in electoral process, social and party activities beyond their primary occupation.
