Today a work meeting was held at the Ministry of Education and Science. Deputy Minister Ketevan Natriashvili participated in the meeting. Inclusive education specialists and representatives from Educational and Scientific Infrastructure Development Agency and vocational colleges attended the meeting. Universally organized principles of educational environment and specific recommendations on the example of a vocational college were discussed.
The first part of the work meetings was held in vocational colleges “Mermisi” and “Spektri”. The topic of the seminar covered the issue of need of educational environment for persons with special educational needs. Based on the examples of buildings and infrastructure of vocational education institutions, internationally recognized model of evaluation for educational environment was demonstrated. Students and professors of architecture departments at Georgian higher educational institutions (Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, Georgian Technical University and Ilia State University) attended the meeting in order to emphasize the principle of accessibility in their educational programs.
In the process of analyzing environment accessibility during the seminars, different needs were emphasized: needs of persons with visual and hearing impairments and those using wheelchairs.
