Leave of Absence for Teachers

Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili and President of Educators and Scientists Free Trade Union of Georgia, Mrs. Maia Kobakhidze introduced news on  teachers` leaves to 80 Tbilisi school principals at the meeting organized in №24 public school.

According to the decision of the Minister, the amendments are being introduced to the Order on “Compulsory conditions of labor contracts formed between a public school principal and a teacher.”According to the amendments, teachers’ paid leaves will be determined for the length of period of no less than two months (40 working days). Teachers will receive their salary in advance.

On a number of occasions (extern examinations, autumn examinations etc.), different terms for vacations shall be approved in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. Teachers will be able to use their paid leaves from the beginning of July, 2013 and return no later than by September 2.

Until present, paid leaves could only last for 24 days.  According to the amendments teachers are now able to have paid leaves during summer. They can get their salary in advance if they wish so.
