Kumisi School in Gardabani has been named after Zurab Begiashvili. After graduating from Tbilisi State Medical University, lieutenant Begiashvili served as a doctor in 42nd battalion of infantry brigade of Georgian Armed Forces. Georgian serviceman died during August War in 2008.
For defending motherland, for loyalty, bravery and sacrifice for the integrity of the Country and outstanding merit for serving the motherland, Zurab Begiashvili was awarded posthumously with Order of Vakhtang Gorgasali I class.
For special merits during the operations, Georgian serviceman also received a medal “Devoted to the Motherland”.
With the approval of Georgian military doctor’s family, the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, the Ministry of Defence and Kumisi Public School made a decision to name the school after Zurab Begiashvili, who went to the same school during the years 1986-1996.
The event was attended by Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili, and Minister of Defence Irakli Alasania, Zurab Begiashvili’s mother and relatives. Pupils of Kumisi public school performed a composition in memoriam of Zurab Begiashvili, recalled his life and episodes of battle.
