Certification of School Principals

The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia is starting a certification process of public school principals. This is the first stage of school principals’ contest. The aim of the certification is to select highly qualified and honest staff for the position of a school principal as a result of testing and an interview.

The Ministry ensures:

  1. transparent, fair and impartial process of the contest
  2. comfortable and equal conditions for the contestants

Online registration of candidates shall start on July 25, 2013 and finish on August 7 on the following web-page http://directors.mes.gov.ge/ after paying registration tax on the corresponding account of the candidate opened in Liberty Bank. Examination Centers shall open in all regions. Candidates will be distributed in the Centers based on their place of residence. Electronic testing will enable candidates to know the results immediately after finishing the test.

Examinations will be conducted on August 21-22, 2013. Before the examinations, official web-page of the Ministry of Education and Science shall provide the public with the following information:

  1. Timetable of Certification Exams
  2. Information on test structure
  3. List of materials necessary to prepare for the examinations
  4. Guideline for working with computer
  5. Sample test tasks

The examination is designed to check competences and skills of a candidate. Coordinators shall introduce guidelines to the candidates before the examination starts.

In case if a candidate accumulates 60% of maximum points, examination shall be considered to be passed successfully. This will enable a candidate to move on to the next stage-interview. If a candidate successfully passes both stages of the certification, he/she will be awarded with a Certificate granting the right to be a School Principal. The abovementioned Certificate will enable a candidate to participate in the contest.

Those who have successfully passed testing stage in 2012, will be able to continue the process form the second stage – the interview.
