Today, Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Tamar Sanikidze and Maura J. Foulton, Country Director of Peace Corps Georgia signed a renewed Memorandum of Cooperation.
Peace Corps is a government body of the USA, founded in 1961 in order to ensure world peace. Peace Corps has been working in Georgia since 2001 and the first project started with cooperation in the field of education.
Within the framework of the program elaborated with the Ministry of Education and Science, volunteers from the United States arrive to Georgia annually. The volunteers work in Georgian schools for free with Georgian teachers. English language teachers are teaching using new methods and approaches together with Georgian teachers.
The renewed Memorandum shall increase effectiveness of the project, implementation of joint projects shall move on to new phase and close cooperation will continue.

The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia is encouraging the process of teaching international language and implantation of modern teaching/learning methods.
Working of Peace Corps in Georgia has been fruitful. Apart from the educational function, the project encourages friendship of Georgian and American people. American teachers are learning Georgian language, get familiar with local culture and traditions. 500 volunteers have served in Georgia since 2001.
