New projects in Inclusive Education

Many important projects have been implemented in terms of inclusive education since 2013, among them is access to quality education for blind and visually impaired children. For the first time after 50 years, the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia has printed complete set of special school textbooks in Braille transcript for blind pupils. 

For the first time in 2013, salary of teachers at 8 boarding schools for pupils with special educational needs has increased. Additionally, special teachers will be assigned in all public schools having pupils with special educational needs.

Boarding school services for blind and visually impaired pupils are provided by 202 Tbilisi Public School.  Minister Tamar Sanikidze visited the school, spoke about already accomplished and future novelties and got familiar with the needs of teachers and pupils.

There are 49 pupils in 202 Public School. Teaching process is carried out with ordinary and Braille textbooks. Before, teachers had to read texts to visually impaired pupils. Five 12th graders go to 202 Public School. Pupils from this school successfully pass Unified Exams annually. Examination material is prepared in Braille transcript for them.
