Deputy Minister of Education and Science Tamaz Marsagishvili and Deputy State Minister on Diaspora Issues Mukhran Gulaghashvili visited Georgian schools in the villages Ititala, Aliabadi and Kakhingilo with compact settlements of Georgians in Kakhi, Zakatala and Belakani and handed over school textbooks and auxiliary teaching materials to the pupils. Within the framework of the event, meetings were held with local Georgians.

There are 7 Georgian schools in Kakhi, Zakatala and Belakani, 4 Azerbaijani schools have Georgian sectors. The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia has purchased textbooks of Georgian Language and Mathematics for the pupils of all these schools. 

The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia was providing the abovementioned schools with textbooks and programs before 2008. Later, the process has stopped.  Only a small number of parents could manage to occasionally buy textbooks in Georgia. Consequently, the number of entrants from these regions registering for Unified Examinations has decreased.

Only in 2013 it became possible to deliver textbooks to Georgian pupils in Azerbaijan in order to encourage learning of the native language and preservation of ties with the historical homeland.

The Office of State Minister on Diaspora Issues is actively involved in the implementation of the program of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.  The Office of State Minister on Diaspora Issues is assisting the Ministry in relations with the beneficiaries, in the monitoring process and organizational issues related to the visit to Azerbaijan.
