Heating system has been installed in 57 schools in 2013. New heating system has been installed in 37 schools. The project is carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Energy. It is planned to install heating systems in public schools in the villages where natural gas is already available.
Daba Kazreti Public School №1 in Bolnisi District is one of the schools where heating system has not been functioning since the 90s and firewood has been used instead. Rehabilitation works have been carried out in 2013, namely: windows and doors have been changed, natural gas pipes and heating system have been installed on the whole territory of the school. 250940 GEL has been spent on the rehabilitation works.
Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Tamar Sanikidze and Head of Educational and Scientific Infrastructure Development Agency Giga Umekashvili visited Daba Kazreti Public School №1. There are 626 pupils in the school. 13 teachers out of 41 are certified.
There are 32 public schools in Bolnisi in total, 7 of them have been rehabilitated in 2013. The process will continue next year.
The goal of installing gas system in schools is to create comfortable teaching/learning conditions for teachers and pupils. Gas system will also ensure less expense for heating.
