Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Tamar Sanikidze visited a resource officer injured in the fire which occurred in Public School #158.

24 year-old Beka Metreveli was intoxicated when he was evacuating children from the school building. After the first aid he was transferred to a referral hospital and treated adequately.

The fire occurred on the 16th of December. Allegedly the fire was caused by a short circuit in the computer class. Resource officers managed to rescue pupils before the emergency service and fire brigades came to the site.

Safe school concept initiated by the Ministry envisages crisis management course which covers the topics on the evacuation of pupils and school personnel in the period of natural disasters, such as  fire, earthquake and flood.
