Textbooks
have been written for the sewing sector of vocational education institutions
within the Economic Prosperity Initiative (EPI) program of the USAID.
Presentation of the textbooks was held in Vocational Education Institution
“Mermisi”. Tamar Sanikidze, Minister of Education and Science of Georgia and
Richard Norland, the United States Ambassador to Georgia attended the
event.
The
textbooks represent auxiliary material for three educational programs, these
are: sewing machine operator and mechanic and 100% inspecting and quality
control courses. These programs are implemented in 6 vocational education
institutions and they will ensure satisfaction of employers demands in the
sector.
One
of the goals of EPI is to improve competitiveness of sewing sector of Georgia.
For this purpose, the project has:
- linked representatives of the local
sector and global markets;
- encouraged founding and
strengthening of Georgian textile and shoemakers’ association;
- assisted local
manufacturers to gain international certification;
- encouraged
deepening of relations between local designers and buyers in the CIS
market.
