Presentation of a book collection “Open the Door” was held at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University under the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and within the project “Writers for Human Rights”. More than 150 students of State vocational institutions and students with special educational need attended the presentation.
The new collection was published with the support of Open Society Georgia”. Short stories by nine Georgian writers - Aka Morchiladze, Lasha Bughadze, David Gabunia, Gio Mgeladze, Dato Turashvili, erekle Deisadze, Ana Kordzaia-Samadashvili, Anina Tephnadze and Alex Chighvinadze are included in it.
Short stories of these writers cover vital topics such as: drug addiction, people with limited abilities and mental disorders, Palliative care, AIDS, Hepatitis C, autism, Down syndrome.
The writers met patients and human rights activists before writing their short stories. Thus, all the stories from the collection are based on true stories.
The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and the project participants believe that it is important to raise public awareness in this drection and “Open the Door” will be useful in this regard.
