Students’ NATO modeling project

Studenta Self-Government of Iv. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University presented NATO Modeling project on the topic “NATO, Ukraine's crisis and the fate of Georgia’s European integration” within the NATO week. The presentation was attended by the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Tamar Sanikidze.

28 Tbilisi State University students selected based on a competition results presented the project. The selected students were trained on NATO structure, operation peculiarities, topics and delegate ethics. The training was conducted by Giorgi Muchaidze, Executive Director of the Atlantic Council of Georgia, Tornike Sharashenidze, GIPA Graduate Program Director and expert in International Relations and Veko Dodashvili, Master in International Law of TSU.

Delegates of North-Atlantic Council model presented positions of the countries on the topic in a pre-determined period of time.  Later they were given a reasonable time to ask questions and for discussion. After this, informal talks were held and the resolution was adopted as a result of voting. "We know well the importance of NATO Week and at the same time, we are aware of the recent international political changes. These events grow our expectation towards speeding up Georgia’s NATO aspirations. Therefore I welcome the students’ interest in the topic. It is important that apart from deepening your knowledge and skills by means of formal education, you participate in similar projects, " - noted Tamara Sanikidze.

The jury revealed two winners: the best speaker and the best diplomat. Nominations were determined for other distinguished participants as well. NATO Modeling was attended by Giorgi Muchaidze, Executive Director of the Atlantic Council of Georgia, Julia Lahew, Head of NATO Liaison Office, Giorgi Dolidze, Head of Security Policy and Euro-Atlantic Integration Department of the Ministry of foreign Affairs and  representatives of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs.

Education and Science Department of the University Students Self-government plans and organizes debates, discussions, trainings, conferences, international organizations modeling, intellectual games, simulation processes and other educational-scientific activities.
