Civil Integration Programs
“Multilingual Instruction Support Program” 

The main objectives of the Program is to establish the educational system as a main instrument for national minorities’ integration into society; to establish the educational system as a main instrument for fostering tolerance and developing civil society; to improve acquisition of state language and minority languages at general educational institutions; to ensure elaboration and implementation of minority educational programs in line with the above-mentioned goals while promoting preservation of cultural and linguistic identity of the national minorities and their integration into the Georgian society.

In 2010, 40 non-Georgian public schools would further continue piloting of multilingual instruction as a result of the implementation of the Program.

“Georgian Language Program”

Key objective of the “Georgian Language Program” is to promote popularization of Georgian as a state language and at the same time maintain linguistic and cultural identity of national minorities through introduction of special activities and measures. To this end, the Program aims at accomplishing the following tasks:

  • Promote state language acquisition among national minorities
  • Promote learning of national minorities’ languages;
  • Expand availability of textbooks for non-Georgian students;
  • Create special linguistic programs for adults in the regions compactly settled with ethnic minorities;
  • Improve access to higher education among minority students.

In line with the given tasks, the “Georgian Language Program” will be implemented through 4 subprograms.

  1. Subprogram on Improving Availability of Textbooks for Non-Georgian Students;
  2. Minority Language Protection Subprogram;
  3. Adult Education Centers in Samtskhe-Javakheti and Kvemo Kartli Regions;
  4. Subprogram on Supporting Internally Displaced Students from South Ossetia in Taking Bachelor Program at Higher Educational Institutions of Georgia.

“Program for the Support of Teachers and Administrative-Technical Staff from the Occupied Regions of Georgia”

The Program is a part of overarching Civil Integration Program and aims at the provision of financial support to teachers and administrative-technical staff in conflict zones and in the regions of Georgia occupied during the Russian aggression in 2008.

“Program for the Support to Georgian Schools Abroad”

The objectives of the Program are to popularize Georgian traditions among Georgians living abroad, provide them with updated information about modern Georgia and more importantly promote maintenance of   their linguistic-cultural identity and links with their country.
