According to the  Minister’s  announcement , the examination program will be finally created regarding the results of successfully passed pre tests. The passing points of the exams will be known to the teachers at the end of March.

The Minister said teachers’ certification is not the major goal of the ministry. Most important is to advance f teachers’ qualification. The certified teachers will receive more salary. They will have opportunity to work as a mentor-teachers, this also includes additional salary of 160 GEL.

By the announcement of the Director of National Examination Center, Ms. Maia Miminoshvili, the pre tests, held in Kutaisi, brought the great experience for the teachers. Besides, two and a half hours were not enough for foreign language exams. For this reason, the exam lasted three hours.

The pre tests for general certification exams were prepared by the National Examination Center. The teachers passed not only textual tasks, but also the administrational mechanisms of examining process and informational-technologic support. The tests were held in English Language, mathematics, Georgian Language and Literature as well as general abilities. The Teachers from Imereti, Samegrelo, Guria and Achara took participation in it.

The teachers’ certification is voluntary till 2014 and the government finances it. Firstly, Georgian Language and Literature, foreign languages and mathematics subject matter teachers will take the exams. Majority of these teachers have already passed the training courses financed by the government.

The certification exams will be held in Summer, 2010 for the first time. The preparation of the tests and carrying out the exams will be provided by the National Examination Center.
