Tamar
Sanikidze, the Georgian Minister of Education and Science made a special
announcement and spoke about the privileges that will concern the students and
pupils being disaster victims. In particular:
The tuition fees of the students whose family
members perished or who is left homeless as a result of the disaster will be
covered by the state during the academic year 2015-2016. Said students refer to
entrants that will get enrolled in accredited educational programs, and said
tuition fee refers to the fee of the academic year 2015-2016 - the maximum of
state education grant for entrants and master’s students.
- The
department of Higher Education of the Ministry will devise and refer a program to
the government to have it passed at the immediate government meeting.
- The
pupils, whose computers and text books obtained through different programs were
damaged as a result of the disaster on June 13, will be provided with new
items.
- If
need be, the psychological centre of the office of Resource Officers will
provide assistance to every pupil and their parents.
- The
Ministry will also co-operate with Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University
in order to evaluate the hydrological laboratory and the surrounding area, and
to plan the rehabilitation works in accordance with the findings of
specialists.
