International expert evaluated the process of establishing a teacher scheme positively

An International expert, Mark Atkinson, invited with the support of the World Bank, has finished the examination of tools of scheme for beginning the work as a teacher, professional development and career advancement. The expert has already met the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Tamar Sanikidze and introduces the results of meetings. According to the expert in evaluation of teachers’ efficiency, Mark Atkinson, the scheme allows establishing important positive changes in education process.

‘With the use of the methods already devised and prepared for pilotage, significant changes are planned for the purpose of professional development for teachers and improvement of teaching quality. These will all help teachers plan lessons better, improve interactive teaching techniques and introduce high standards for teaching the subject, so that your pupils are capable of competing in a global market’ –Mark Atkinson proclaims.

As the Minister declares, Mark Atkinson was already involved in the process when devising the concept of the plan and having been rated so highly by an expert is another guarantee that the expected result will be achieved. It is important to review the plan and thoroughly work on details not only once, but also throughout the current situation.

Mark Atkinson, an expert in education technologies and policy, arrived in Tbilisi on June 15. During one week, with the experts and consultants of the centre, he participated in the process of developing basic methods of the plan. In order to successfully set the plan in motion, international and local specialists will additionally evaluate the process and its results in the academic year 2015-2016.
