In
honor of 100th anniversary of death of Vaja-Pshavela, School Theatre
Festival was conducted by the initiative of the Ministry of Education and
Science of Georgia. Under the festival, students of public and private schools
of Georgia performed plays based on writings of Vaja-Pshavela. The commission
revealed three winner plays, which were performed today at Marjanishvili
theatre. The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Tamar Sanikidze, the
Minister of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia Mikheil Giorgadze and
other invited guests attended the event.
At
the end of the event, the winner schools were awarded by monetary reward and
certificates. The monetary rewards were distributed as follows:
- Saint
Andrew school of Batumi – I place (3 000 lari)
- LEPL
N1 public school of Khobi – II place
(2 000 lari)
- LEPL
N1 public school of Borjomi – III place (1 000 lari)
- LEPL
N4 public school of Poti – jury nomination (500 lari)
Except
the prize winners, the jury revealed 10 plays whose representative schools
received encouraging certificates. Deputy Minister of Education and Science of
Georgia Lia Gigauri gave the certificates to the schools. By the decision of
the Ministry, students of Batumi Saint Andrew School were awarded with 3-week
invitations to Buckswood Summer School.
The Ministry of Culture gave 2 000 lari and French and English
editions of Vaja-Pshavela’s books to its favorite, second place winner school.
