Shota Rustaveli Foundation has new Supervisory Board

Shota Rustaveli Foundation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia from April 21, 2015 is working with new Charter. As a result of ongoing re-organization, new collective body was established - Supervisory Board members of which for the first time became renowned foreign and Georgian scientists, Minister of Education and Science of Georgia and Deputy Minister. Foreign and Georgian members of Supervisory Board will work without salary for the development of Foundation, and will implement governance of Foundation with the consideration of experience of various countries in the world.    

Today, minister Tamar Sanikidze and Marine Chitashvili, Director General of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation, met with members of new Supervisory Board and got familiarized them with priorities of Foundation activities and statistics of work for last 4 years. Also, new strategic plan for development of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation was reviewed.

It is important to note that after reorganization there are following plans: widening of network of international experts; creation of unified system of grant management and new base; creation of unified scientific portal of Georgia; support for scientific informational and technological infrastructure; reorganization of competition programs and creation of new ones. 

Priorities of the Foundation determined as follows: correspondence of the strategy and action plan of Foundation to the priorities of Georgia 2020; target, long-term grant projects in the direction of STEM; new criteria of estimation - financing of best projects; program of sciences studying Georgia; strengthening of support for young Georgian scientists; science begins in a school; collaboration with new international partners and facilitation of the joint researches; joint grant competition for applied researchers, in collaboration with GITA and Sakpatenti.
