The Ministry of Education implements various projects for citizens of different nationalities of Georgia in order to help them to integrate in social life. They include the "Multicultural Summer School for ethnic minorities", where non-Georgian speaker pupils learn Georgian language, implement joint projects, get acquainted with the countries history, culture and for a few days live together. Deputy Minister of Education and Science Lia Gigauri visited the summer school in Bakuriani where are 50 pupils from non-Georgian schools. These pupils were chosen according to the competition "My culture and tradition" organizes by the Ministry. Deputy Minister listened to their side of the project assessments and got interested in the conditions of the Georgian language teaching in schools there. The communication language in the camp was only Georgian. Dialogue with the Deputy Minister of Education was held in the Georgian language.
The students, who spoke Georgian poorly or not at all before getting to the camp now were talking proudly and confident about their achievements, new friends and future relations.
The meeting showed that the summer school participants were aware that knowing the state language is a necessary condition for their full integration into society. Accordingly, they are motivated, they love their country and want their country to become successful.
