New academic year 2015-2016 has been started

On 14 September new academic year started in public schools of Georgia. The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Tamar sanikidze and the Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili congratulated the beginning of a new academic year to the pupils, teachers and parents from Mtskheta Municipality village of Tsilkani school.

Prime Minister and Minister of Education accompanied by pupils browsed newly constructed modern standards school building. The school was opened on 14 September and hosted village of Tsilkani school pupils.

The school is equipped fully and meets all the standard requirements- modern heating system, Sports and assembly hall, library, information technology and natural science classrooms, beautiful new classrooms with school desks and blackboards. The school is adapted to students with special educational needs and is equipped with special ramps and elevators. Tsilkani school is intended for 450 pupils. It is one of the biggest village schools and its construction was vitally important for the village. The school was provided with the sport inventory by the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs.

As for the news, the ministry meets the new academic year with many innovations:

  • Three new schools were opened for the start of the academic year (since 2013, total of 10 schools are brought into service, until the end of the current year, 8 schools will be opened. The projection of another 20 schools is being carried out, the construction of 6 of them will start this year).
  • This year 500 public schools were rehabilitated. It is already two years since the rehabilitation of schools have been started. This process takes place permanently and learning process is not disturbed. Since 2013 1200 schools have been rehabilitated fundamentally (Doors and windows, roof, bathrooms, heating, etc);
  • Every pupil will have a complete set of textbooks. The books are brought to all the regions and most part of them are distributed to schools. Only minor shortage is being filled;
  • Renewed computers will be given to first-graders
  • This year school transport will serve 1200 schools (60 000 pupils)
  • During the last two years 230 000 desks and chairs have been bought, 1500 new schools were equipped with new inventory;
  • During the current year, computer classes will be renewed. Technological inventory has already been bought for 560 schools.
  • Doctor cabinets has been added

This Year Is Completely Dedicated to The Teachers!

The government has already begun to take care of teachers, their constant professional development and increasing motivation. From new academic year a new scheme of teacher career start, professional development and career progression will be launched. According to which career growth will be accompanied by an increase in salary. That is undoubtedly important for teacher career improvement. The government has mobilized financial resources and from September teachers will get increased amount of salaries. The salaries will be increased after 1 April, 2016 and in only one year and half, the salary of a teacher will exceed to average salary.

During 2015-2016 academic years, salary increase will occur two times. From 1 September 2015 basic salary will be increased by 50 GEL. Besides that, second level teacher will get wage appendage of 160 GEL; Third level teachers will get wage appendage of 250 GEL and fourth level teacher will get wage appendage of 300 GEL

From the 1 April 2016, basic salary of a teacher will be increased by 50 GEL. Besides that, second level teacher will get wage appendage of 180 GEL; Third level teachers will get wage appendage of 270 GEL and fourth level teacher will get wage appendage of 400 GEL.
