In order to increase competitiveness on the job market, The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and The Ministry of Labor Health and Social Affairs start training program. Today, regarding to the mentioned issue, The First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Ketevan Natriashvili and The Deputy Minister of Labour, Health and Social Affairs Zaza Sofromadze held a briefing.

The Ministry of Education and Science will guarantee to provide the  mentioned initiative to public as well as private vocational educational institutions and also will coordinate the process of development of short-term programs that aims to train and increase the qualifications of unemployed people registered on the portal www.worknet.gov.ge. Short-term programs will be for up to 50 specialties and they will be implemented on the basis of the demanded professions identified during the qualitative research of the labor market. The program aims to support employment through the increasing competitiveness.

It should be mentioned that vocational education provider network expands annually. As a result,interested individuals will have opportunity to pick the college that fits their needs.

One of the components of professional training and retraining is workplace training – internship which will be operated through the agreement with employers in case of free work places. The duration of internship does not exceed to 3 months. Individuals willing of retraining will be given 150 GEL per month. The internship aims that in case of selection, at least one apprentice to be employed.

The participants of the program will be citizens of Georgia who are already 20 years old and are registered on the Labor Market Information Management System -www.worknet.gov.ge and agree to do short-term training course. At this stage, 1138 job seekers will be involved in this project.
