Today, on 23 September, tripartite memorandum was signed on, which includes implementing electronic chess programs at schools. Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by Tamar Sanikidze (The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia), Tariel Khechikashvili (Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs), and Giorgi Giorgadze (The president of Chess Federation).

The mentioned memorandum was signed in accordance with the government resolution ‘State Program of Chess Development in Georgia’, which aims to promote the popularity of chess at schools.

Chess, in a form of two-year electronic program, is an optional subject and will be implemented at II and III grades. Across the country, up to 300 pilot schools were chosen including the regions of Tbilisi and Imereti, Kakheti, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Adjara. Teacher training program has been launched which is being held by the National Chess Federation. The participants of pilot programs are the public schools of Tbilisi, Imereti, Kakheti, Samegrelo-zemo Svaneti and Adjara. Teaching will be conducted in two stages and entirely covers the regions chosen for piloting.
