Millennium Challenge Account starts Millennium Innovation new contest for school students. Magda Magradze, the executive director of Millennium Challenge Account, announced about the competition today. Tamar sanikidze, Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, and US ambassador Jan Kelley spoke about the importance of the project. Within the project framework, innovational projects of 2014-15 finalist contestants were exhibited.

The aim of the competition is to identify the three best groups across the Georgia, which will present projects in concerning to innovations, technologies and natural sciences

The participant must be born between the periods 02.04.1997-01.04.2003. The participant can present the project from one of the following categories: Space and Aviation; Health and nutrition; Cyber technology and security; Environment, energy and ecosystems. The amount of the projects is not limited but one project should belong to one category.

At the first stage, participants have to fill in application form. The deadline for the registration is 25 October, 2015.

Selected first place holder group will participate in annual summit organized by Conrad fund ((http://www.conradchallenge.org)

The objectives of the competition

Millennium Innovation contest tries to provoke and encourage innovational ideas, implementing various projects in the fields of natural sciences and technologies, that will increase their motivation in mentioned disciplines and promote new achievements in innovations and technology. The project also aims to connect winner students with successful scientists and with private sector. This will help them to hold partnerships, gain knowledge and experience.

The mentioned contest was implemented in 2014-2015. For the first time 85 groups participated from 9 regions of Georgia. In 2015, the winners were pupils from #6 public school and private school ‘Mzeqa’ Irakli Kapanadze and Karlo Khutsishvili. Their project was called ‘Multiklimatizatori’. The group took part in Conrad fund innovation summit, in NASA Kennedy Center, in Florida.

The contest of Millennium Innovations is developed by Millennium Challenge Account-Georgia by the financial support of the embassy of USA. The project cooperates with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and The Conrad Foundation US.
