The minister of Education and Science of Georgia Tamar Sanikidze and the Mayor of Tbilisi, Davit Narmania held a joint press conference regarding the ‘school readiness program’ registration. The registration will be available from 12th of October at 13:00 o’clock on the web page of Tbilisi kindergarten agency - www.kids.org.ge . Registration process will last till 26th of October, and on 2nd of November the program will be launched at public schools and kingergartens.
‘School Readiness Program’ which is based on game learning methodology, will prepare 5-6 year-old children for school. The aim of the program is to develop child skills in different directions, to acquire motor, social, emotional and cognitive skills, to develop communicational and conversational skills.
The program that provides educational service for 30 weeks, three hours a day to an older age groupchildren. As for the children who do not attend to kindergarten they will prepare at the groups opened especially for them in public schools.
‘School Readiness Program’ was developed by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia in correlation with United Nations Fund and will be implemented in all 159 kindergartens of the capital city. At the same time, teacher manuals, ‘School Readiness Program’ weekly collection of activities, and developed teacher training modules have been developed.
Tbilisi city hall in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, guarantee the effective management and implementation of the program. Taking in consideration the results of monitoring, program will be improved according to the arisen needs.
