Dimitri Shashkini Opened a Second Round of Educational Olympiad

The Minister of Education and Science, Dimitri Shashkini opened and observed a second round of National Educational Olympiad in mathematics and foreign languages, carried out at public school №161.

The second round of National Educational Olympiad in Georgian Language and Literature, mathematics, foreign languages as well as in physics will be held on March 13-14, in Kutaisi and Tbilisi. 3467 schoolchildren will take participation in it.

The number of schoolchildren, passed the first round is following:

Georgian Language and Literature   410

Georgian Language and Literature (Not Georgians)   382

Mathematics 947

English Language 470

German Language 345

Russian Language 416

French Language 270

Physics 227

The second round in other subjects will be carried out on March 27-28. Totally, 5696 schoolchildren will participate in the second round of the Olympiad. Currently, two visually impaired schoolchildren are participating in the second round of foreign language Olympiad.

By the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science, the National Educational Olympiad will be held every year in following subjects: Georgian Language and Literature, mathematics, foreign languages, history, geography, physics, chemistry, biology and informatics.

The Olympiad is also held in three rounds in Russian, Azerbaijanian and Armenian Languages.

The winners of the final round will become the members of National team and will take participation in the international Olympiad of schoolchildren.

173 657 applications, from all regions of Georgia were received by the National Examination Center this year.

By the Ministers announcement, to improve the quality of General education, National subject Olympiads will be implemented again and Georgian schoolchildren will have an opportunity to participate in the international competitions. To encourage the Olympiad, international Olympiads will be carried out in Georgia.
