The Government Will Finance Young Scientists Internship Abroad

Young scientists will have a chance to become interns at leading scientific centers abroad in the following scientific fields: engineering sciences, physics and astronomy, geology, mathematics, mechanics, information technologies, telecommunication, also agrarian, biological, natural and medical sciences.

The goal of the competition is to support the research workings of young scientists, as well as help them to receive experience, improve the qualification and get into contact with young scientists abroad   by allocation the grants.  Internship grants abroad are financed from the budget of Georgian government. The administrational issues  of the competition is carried out by Georgia National Scientific Foundation.

In the scope of the grant, international travel expenditures, insurance, visa, housing accommodation, round trip tickets and food expenditures will be compensated.

All young scientists, who are citizens of Georgia and meet the following criteria, can apply for the grant competition:

  • Knows English fluently or other State language of the country, he/she wants to receive the internship.
  • Holds master/doctor’s academic or similar degree or is the doctor of graduating course.
  • He /she is not over 40.

 The competition will be held every year. Georgia National Scientific Foundation allocated the grant of 27,000 GEL to three young scientists in 2009. They passed three month intern courses in USA, Germany and Spain.

This year, 150,000 GEL is planned to be allocated for the young scientists internships abroad from the budget.
