Millennium Innovation Contest winning team "Solar" will travel to visit NASA Headquarters

On February 12, 2016 Millennium Challenge Fund, held the final stage of the Millennium Innovation Competition. Ten contestant teams participated in the finals, which consisted of 34 students. The projects, presented by the teams, were evaluated by an independent commission. As a result, there were three winning teams announced.

The first place for the Millennium Innovation Competition was awarded to a team “Solar” formed by the students from “New Lyceum” and AIA-GESS, who made a project – “solar panel efficiency to increase innovative technology.” Accordingly, team “Solar” will take part in the annual summit organized by the US-Conrad Foundation (The Conrad Foundation – http://www.conradchallenge.org/), which will be held on April 24, 2016 in NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, in the United States of America. 

The second and third places, were awarded to the teams formed by the students of Komarov 199 public school, who worked on two projects: “From processor to Neurons” and “The design of a cinematic Membrane structure”. The winners of second and third place were awarded by Geocell LLC, and the National Intellectual Property Center. All ten teams were awarded with various prizes. It needs to be mentioned, the Dean of San Diego State University – Ken Walsh, awarded six of 12th graders, with a 50 percent scholarship at SDSU, if they wish to apply.

Competitors were greeted and congratulated by the Executive Director of Millennium Challenge Fund – Magda Maghradze, the US ambassador – Ian Kelly and the Minister of Education and Science – Tamar Sanikidze.

Millennium Innovation Competition is funded by the MCA funded by the US Embassy, ​​in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.

Moreover, Millennium Innovation Contest encourages young people with innovative ideas and projects, that will contribute towards the development of technology and other important fields.
