Owing to the initiative of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation and the European Research Council (ERC), there was a public lecture/presentation by the Vice President – Dr. Mart Saar regarding the science funding opportunities of the ERC: supporting excellent researchers/scientists all over Europe.
The director of the Institute of Molecular Biotechnology laboratory of Neurosciences at the University of Helsinki – Dr. Mart Saar, who also appears to be the board member of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation, provided all the necessary information regarding the ERC’s work and gave some recommendations to the scientists, which will help them to obtain more grants in the future.
As is known, the negotiations between Georgia and Brussels on the involvement of the EU's research and innovation of the largest program in the "Horizon 2020" has ended, - which has a budget of about 80 billion euros, and the total amount is given in form of grants for various scientific research discoveries, inventions and ideas during the period of seven years (2014-2020). The programs mission is to promote advanced science and respond to social and industrial challenges. The membership of Horizon 2020, will give the opportunity to the Georgian scientists to use the European research funds, as well as other huge world-known funds for grants.
