The official statement of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, regarding the developments at TSU
14.03.2016

First of all, the university is a place for the academic activities, where under a full autonomy of the students and the academic staff can have an independent learning, teaching and research, as well as both parties must have the capability to fully express their civic position and general views.

It is unacceptable to use external forces, government agencies or other groups to interfere with the university actions and/or attempt to influence the students. It is absolutely unacceptable to try to politicize the current process.

We express our willingness to cooperate with all parties concerned if any students' union representatives with to collaborate on the legislative changes.
We hope that students, faculty and university authorities will resolve current problems through a constructive dialogue, in order to avoid any kind of provocation of confrontation between the parties.

We believe that it is in our mutual desire for a better university’s future and that is why all of us should unite to achieve that common goal.
