The registration for the 2016 spring admission is currently open for the public school – “Mermisi”. The active participation of the private sector had a significant impact for the development of the insisted programs and helped to introduce modern methodologies to the teaching process. Any person who is interested, regardless the age, has the opportunity to master any profession of their preference in conjunction with getting employed, with full government funding for the following courses: arts, business administration, and engineering.
College “Mermisi” runs 34 professional educational programs, including 10 modular programs. Registration for the spring admission is open for 12 programs, comprising of nine subjects and three modular programs which are as follows: shoes and leather accessories specialist, IT support specialist, accounting technician, engine mechanic, refrigeration technician, food ecology control specialist, printing industry technician, office manager, textile manufacturing specialist, cook, enamel specialist, and stylist.
College “Mermisi” provides all the necessary conditions to provide labor market with the highly trained specialists with competitive skills for their further employment in the industry. The collaboration with the private and government sector is increasing rapidly on the daily basis. Furthermore, “Mermisi” has signed a cooperative memorandum with more than 250 large and small companies.
With the support of Ministry of Science and Education, college “Mermisi” designed a modern, innovative, and industrial laboratory – “Publab”, equipped with the latest specialized equipment (3D printer, 3D scanner, programmed laser-cutter, vacuum-forming machine, drawing tablet, and etc.). Moreover, a prominent example of the continuous innovation is expressed by the modular program specifically designated for the “low-voltage electricians”, where the lessons are taught with the animated software on the interactive board.
College “Mermisi” promotes the involvment of people with special educational needs into the educational process and cares for their integration/adaption into our society, which naturally increases the rate of their employment. The college is undergoing a process of fully adapting the premises for the people with special educational needs which includes; renovating the elevator, introducing ramps, designing adapted lavatories, sensory paths, railings, marking the stairs, separating contrasting zones, doors, knobs, and etc.
College has made a significant achievement in terms of implementing an inclusive education. In particular, “Mermisi” was named as the best provider of inclusive education in the Caucasus region by the European Development Fund. At the conference held in Brussels, a delegation from Georgia was given an honorary prize. The article was published regarding the successful inclusive education in the Georgian educational system.
