First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia – Ms. Ketevan Natriashvili attended the testing process of the vocational education applicants with special educational needs at the EMIS (Education Management Information System) educational institution. She also got acquainted with the learning process of the facility, and met with the students in person.

The number of students with special educational needs increases every year across Georgia. Only this year, during the spring admission, 106 students with disabilities and special needs have registered. 95 of these students, will undergo vocational testing and will enroll for the specially designed and tailored programs based on their capabilities.

"Education Management Information System" (EMIS) is perfectly adapted for the individuals with the special educational needs; Facility is equipped with a ramp, special lifts and toilets.

Vocational education institutions are in process of providing to the individuals with special educational needs with additional specialists to facilitate the learning process: (inclusive education specialist, sign language interpreter, mobility and orientation trainer, personal assistant, etc.)

Furthermore, the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, introduced the project of inclusive education in 2013. In fact, the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research supports this initiative by implementing a project – “Implementation of inclusive education for vocational education system in Georgia” since 2013. The above-mentioned initiative aims to increase the access of the vocational education to the individuals with special needs and disabilities, and to customize the learning process to their individual abilities, interests and needs accordingly.
