Mandatory guard service is expanding throughout the regions of Georgia. Mandatory guard officers entered to the several large public schools for the firs time. The representatives of the Mandatory Guard Services of the Ministry of Education and Science presented the guards to the schools in person. Moreover, in the near future, mandatory services are to be introduced to the Javakheti and Ninotsminda public schools as well.
Selected candidates, underwent a special education and resource training program in conjunction with completing a psychological training course at the Police Academy. At this stage, there are 1202 mandatory guards providing security measures at; 419 public and four private schools, three vocational colleges and at one of the higher learning institutions.
As it is known, a major mandatory guard service reform was conducted few years ago. There were several psychological centers set up, and a special career planning program was launched. Moreover, from the beginning of 2016-2017 academic year, all schools in the Pankisi region, will begin a special vocational education ortientation and career planning services to the students of 9th and 11th grade. In addition, within the scope of this project there are numerous visits planned to several enterprises, factories, educational institutions to obtain necessary information regarding various vocations and professions.
