The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia –Ms. Tamar Sanikidze, got acquainted with the renovation process at Niko Muskhelishvili Computational Mathematics Institute. The process started few months ago and is steadily coming to an end. Within months, a modern research facility in computational mathematics and nuclear engineering, will be equipped with the latest technology and appliances.

Years ago, the previous government sold the building of the Institute of Computational Mathematics. For several years, scientists have been conducting research in various universities and at the same time, continued the fight to return their building.

Due to the efforts made by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, the institute has a new building and premises, in conjunction with an allocated fund to arrange the infrastructure according to the European standards.

Furthermore, Computational Mathematics Institute is under the jurisdiction of the Technical University of Georgia. Within the scope of a signed agreement with CERN, the institute will implement a modern computerized system – Grid Cluster, which will be used to complete local tasks and be used by CERN as well. With the help of Grid and Cloud technologies, a high level scientific tasks will be completed, which is essential to our country’s future economic and social development.

The renovation of Niko Muskhelishvili Computational Mathematics Institute is the part of the large-scale project, which the Ministry of Education and Science implements for the science development, and as a result for the first time in Georgia, a united system of teaching and research with the corresponding intellectual and infrastructural resources will be activated, enabling Georgia to fully integrate in the international scientific community as an equal member.
