The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia – Mr. Aleksandre Jejelava together with the Minister of Labour, Health and Social Affairs – Mr. David Sergeenko visited the vocational college “Mermisi”, where they met with the students and talked about the ongoing projects, which promises the qualification enhancement, in conjunction with acquiring new various professions and foresees a significant increase in the employment.

Today, education and vocational qualification is available to people of all ages. The government implemented a program for training/retraining and increasing the qualification  job seekers, which aims at training and retraining the job seekers, placing them at the corresponding internships, therefor increasing the competitiveness on the locla market and thus promoting their employment.

In cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Health has approved 68 professions, which is part of the list for the job seekers state program professions. In addition, the Ministry of Health also approved a registry for the vocational educational institutions and training programs.

The Social Agency of the Ministry of Health provides the display of the job seeking individuals on the following website –http://worknet.gov.ge/, where the beneficiaris will undergo trainings with the different industris in various specialties.

 The program is financed by the government-issued vouchers, and the maximum value of each beneficiary, in accordance with the profession is 1000 GEL.

Furthemore, vocational college “Mermisi” is one of the colleges involved in the program. College “Mermisi” carries out 34  various vocational education programs, including 10 modular programs such as; the shoes and leather accessories specialist, IT support specialist, accounting technician, engine mechanic, refrigeration technician, food ecology control specialist, printing industry technician, office manager, textile professional, chef, stylist and enamel specialist.

College “Mermisi” is in compliance with all rules and regulations for the labor market, and sets out in creating highly competitive specialists in various fields with their further employment. The college is enhancing its cooperation with the public and private sector. Moreover, the college has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with more than 250 small and large companies.
