The second round of the competition The Best Linguist in English was carried out at Kutaisi public school №17. The participants used the communicational technologies in the competition. The Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Ms. Irine Kurdadze observed the second round.
The competition is being held by the support of the Ministry of Education and Science, Educational and Scientific Infrastructure Development Agency (Deer Leap), Kutaisi Educational Resource Center, the Department of English Language of Tsereteli State University as well as the embassies of the United States and UK to Georgia. 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th graders of Georgian public and private schools participate in it.
The competition is being held in three rounds. The goal of this project is to develop the quality of knowledge and usage of English language, general abilities in comunicational technologies bewteen the schoolchildren and identify the best linguist.
Schoolchildren shall meet following requirements: Knowledge of the English language according to the standards of National Curriculum, computer skills, online typing, to have a private e-mail and apply on the web-site: www.moazrovne.17school.ge.
The first round was finished on March 1, 2010. 280 schoolchildren from different regions of Georgia (Tbilisi, Rustavi, Gori, Kutaisi, Kareli, Zestaponi, Sachkhere, Batumi, Samtredia, Kobuleti, Poti, Zugdidi, Tkibuli) took participation in it.
The second round was held at Kutaisi public school №17, on March 22. 213 winners of the first round participated in it. They implemented the task without office equipments, using only IT technologies.
The third round will be carried out on April. All schoolchildren, who will pass the second round, will take participation in the third round. The winners will be awarded with computers.
