Recently, an increasing interest is expressed towards the current developments in the education system, particularly in the East. The Sultanate of Oman, which conveys a great importance to the cooperation with the Georgian education sector. Particular interest is reserved with the ongoing reforms, adult education, English language teaching in schools, vocational and higher education institutions, as well as the role of Summer schools for the language enhancement. In regards to this interest, Georgia was visited by the President of Higher Trining Institute and Travel Agencies Association of Oman, a doctor in Technical Sciences, and a professor at Stanford and Harvard Universities – Dr. Seim Al Sharef with the students. He held a meeting with the Depity Minister of Education and Science – Lia Gigauri.
At the meeting, both sides discussed the current situation in the two countries in the education system, and outlined the framework of possible future cooperation. Dr. Al Sharefi, emphasized the fact that, the is also in charge of the International Airline Authorized Training Courses (IATA), and believes that this vocation for the Georgian students can become an important profession. In addition, he also commended Busckwood school “Tbilisi” and added, that the school is much more than what he has heard before with the preliminary information.
As you may know, a state-funded Olympiads at Buckswood summer school, give the opportunity to the students to learn English language. This is a model adapted from the British Summer school, and it is much cheaper to the foreigners to send their children to Georgia than in Britain. Both sides, expressed their immense desire to cooperate in future, and Dr. Al Sharefi plans to discuss future cooperation with the school.
