It has become a tradition for the Ministry of Education and Science to celebrate the European Day of Languages on the September 26, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This year, within the scope of “Irbakhi” program, the Ministry of Education and Science, in order to promote and popularize the Georgian language, has prepared gifts such as: illustrated brochures – “Georgian language” in English, German, French, Spanish and Russian languages, posters – “Georgian alphabet” and “Learn the Georgian Language”, bookmarks with the Georgian alphabet, as well as the CDs with a music video regarding the Georgian alphabet. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has sent these giftbags to the Georgian embassies abroad, who participate in the festivities due to their active promotion of Georgian culture and language to the interested parties in the foreign countries. This successful project will continue in future.
Due to the celebration of September 26, the Council of Europe has created a website, with the informative content - http://edl.ecml.at/, where a guest will find a variety of information about this day and how to celebrate it. In addition, the Georgian version (ka) of the website, has been developed by “Irbakhi” and it is already ready to be used.
It has been two years, since the launch of the first Georgian teaching web-site www.geofl.ge, learning Georgian as a foreign language. The methodology and the material, presented on the website is prepared and created in compliance with the standards of the Council of Europe’s policy. According to Top.ge’s statistics’ the website had 30,195 unique customers from around the world from April 14, 2015, until April 14,2016. The website is being updated and filled with the new material on the daily basis.
