700 students will continue their studies in a modern school in Gori – public school N5, which was opened by the the Prime Minister of Georgia - Giorgi Kvirikashvili, the Minister of Education and Science – Aleksandre Jejelava, the US Ambassador in Georgia - Ian Kelly, the deputy Executive Director of Millennium Challenge Corporation - Nancy Lee and the Millennium Challenge Fund Executive Director in Georgia -Magda Magradze.
The school rehabilitation was implemented under the Millennium Challenge Corporation’s Second Compact.
In 2016, due to the Millennium Challenge Account’s public school infrastructure development project, a total of 12 public schools have been fully renovated. Public schools in Bebnisi, Gori, Zerta, Tianeti, Okami, Saqasheti, Skria, Tiniskhidi, Tkviavi, Pkhvenisi, Dzegvi, and Khidistavi have been fully rehabilitated. The first renovation season entails, rehabilitating 30 public schools in the regions of Mtskheta-Tianeti, Shida Kartli and Samtskhe-Javakheti, whereas approximately 100 schools are to be renovated in different regions of Georgia. As a result of these renovations, 3,500 students have access to the modern learning environment.
A total of 30 public schools are being renovated in the regions of Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Shida Kartli, Samtskhe-Javakheti, and Racha-Lechkhumi. Moreover, there are 100 more public schools to be renovated in different regions of Georgia.
The project is being implemented under the Millennium Challenge Account’s second compact, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.
