Owing to the support of the Council of Europe’s Development Bank, with the energy efficiency principle, some 25 public schools will be reconstructed-reinforced in Tbilisi. The project was signed today, and the first Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia attended the ceremony with the organization officials. 

According to preliminary calculations, approximately 15,000 students will continue their studies in a comfortable and safe learning enrivonment due to the project execution. Generally speaking, the main aim of the project, is to improve the energy efficiency, in conjunction with enhancing the learning environment. Moreover, creating the safe and modern working conditions for the students and teachers alike, is of paramount importance. Furthermore, the project will reep an important environmental and social effects, which is displayed through an improved sustainability of schools and reduced risk towards the seismic activities. Also, at least 40% energy consumption will be decreased in the new buildings.

The above-mentioned project is the first one, to be financed by GEB in the public sector. The preparatory works have already started, and is coordinated by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, together with the Infrastructure Development Agency.
