Pupils of the village Zerti Public School in Gori region continue their study at the school equipped with modern standards. The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Aleksandre Jejelava, Executive Director of Millennium Challenge Account Magda Maghradze and Head of the Representative Office of Millennium Challenge Corporation in Georgia Gener Edelman visited the school, rehabilitation of which was carried out within the framework of the second Compact of Millennium Challenge Corporation.
The Minister got acquainted with the renewed infrastructure of the school on-site and visited the modern, multifunctional natural science laboratory equipped within the scope of grant of the Millennium Challenge Account. 3850 square meters were rehabilitated in Zerti Public School. At present, 379 pupils are studying there, and as a result of rehabilitation the school will be able to receive 425 more pupils.
At this stage, the Millennium Challenge Account completed full rehabilitation of 12 public schools as a result of the first rehabilitation season within the framework of the Public Schools Infrastructure Development Project, which resulted in improvement of the learning environment for over 3 500 pupils.
During the first rehabilitation season, in total 30 public schools were rehabilitated in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Shida Kartli, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti areas. As a whole, within the framework of the Compact, rehabilitation of up to 100 public schools is planned in various regions of Georgia.
