The Minister of Education and Science, Dimitri Shashkini attended the chemistry lesson, carried out using the virtual laboratory at Tbilisi public school #186.

150 teachers of chemistry, physics and mathematics of Tbilisi and regional 50 pilot schools passed the two-day training. They were trained by the National Curriculum and Assessment Center of the Ministry of Education and Science. The teachers, being trained by the experts of the center, will use the modern teaching methods at schools. After receiving the experience at the pilot schools, the general recommendations about the informational and communication technologies will be developed at public schools.

It is very important to use the informational and communication technologies at science classes, especially at schools that are not equipped with the appropriate infrastructure. In accordance with the President’s initiative, with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science and the National Curriculum and Assessment Center, teachers will receive the opportunity to improve the lessons and make them more interesting with the virtual labs.

Launching this program at schools and using it in the educational process will support the teachers to reach the goals, defined by the National Curriculum. In particular, it will increase the motivation of the schoolchildren, form and develop the research abilities of the children in the natural science and will also support the better understanding of the main concepts.

By the Minister’s announcement, the main goal of the ongoing educational reform is to create the educational programs that will support using and adopting the modern technologies, equipping the environment with modern techniques, as well as developing the professionalism of the teachers.
