Civil Activity Development Program 2010

Partners:

The Program is being implemented by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia in cooperation with the British Association ,,Children’s High Level Group”.

Objectives of the Program:
  • To raise motivation of children and youth for their involvement into community activities;
  • Foster integration and socialization of socially vulnerable children, children deprived parental care, children with special needs, IDP students, national minorities and Meskhetians forcefully exiled from Georgia during the Soviet Union through the planning/implementation of different community activities.

Outcome of the Program:

  • By the end of 2010 regular meetings (2-5 meetings a week) will have been conducted in 44 public schools, 26 boarding schools, 2 higher educational institutions, 14 public special schools and in 5 selected  communities resided by IDPs,  Meskhetians forcefully exiled from Georgia during the Soviet Union, national and ethnic minorities and children with disabilities. These meetings would enable volunteers, schoolchildren and other program participants to deepen knowledge in different issues.
  • Through the implementation of community activities, the participants of the program would develop civic consciousness/values and would foster civil integration of different categories of people (children from orphanages and boarding schools, repatriated students, people with special needs, IDPs, national minorities).
  • In 2010, the number of the Program volunteers will be increased by 5% compared with the number from 2009;
Timeframe of the Program: 10 months (March-December)

The Target Groups of the Program:

    The Program would involve:

  • 2 640 volunteers from 44 public schools;
  • 200 parents.
  • 1200 students of 40 special educational and day-care institutions;
  • 50 youth representatives from the village Shaumiani of Marneuli district settled with internally displaced people exiled during Russian military aggression in South Ossetia (August 2008);
  • 100 repatriated Meskhetians currently living in the village Nasakirali of Ozurgeti municipality and in the village Ianeti of Samtredia municipality;
  • 20 Roma children living in Rustavi and Kutaisi;
  • 200 students of Ilia State University and Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University.
  • Different Non Governmental Organizations.
