Presentation of the Project ‘’Study the History, Become a Researcher’’

Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are carrying out a joint project ‘’Study the History, Become a Researcher’’. Today, Lia Gigauri, deputy minister of Education and Science of Georgia and Shalve Khutsishvili, deputy minister of Internal Affairs presented the project.

The project goals:

  • To make the materials of recent history of Georgia already available for public in the archive of the Ministry of Internal Affairs interesting to not only to the professional researchers, but also to the young people.
  • At the stage of general education and higher education, facilitate development of specific research skills, creative thinking and the skill of working on the source among children and students.
  • On the basis of studying the original sources, realize research opportunities of the recent history of their own country.
  • Promote materials maintained in the MoIA archive.

The project will start in March and at the first stage, five groups will participate in it.  Five public schools and five students of the Bachelor’s course will be selected in Tbilisi. In the process of working with archive materials, each group will be provided with equal conditions. At the final stage, all five groups will present a scientific work. The winner will be revealed by a special commission structured by the representatives of MoIA, MoES, Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Archive of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, historians and an independent expert.

Three finalists will be revealed through the competition, each group will receive some presents and the winner three groups will be awarded with special prizes. The winner report will be published in the magazine of Archive of the Ministry of Internal Affairs – Archive Moambe. In the course of project implementation, 5-10 documentary videos will be prepared.
