The Minister of Education and Science, Dimitri Shahskini visited Georgian Technical University and awarded the Full Professor of the Department of Machine-Building of the Faculty of Transportation and Machine-Building, Vajha Menteshashvili with the Technical University Diploma of honor, for his long pedagogical and scientific activities.

Vajha Menteshashvili has been teaching at the Technical University for 50 years. He is the candidate of the technical science, assistant professor and the Doctor of technical science. He has published more than 60 scientific-pedagogical works. He is the author of 12 of them and has two patent applications of Georgia in invention.

The Minister got familiarized with the rehabilitative works of the University. The façade of the administration building was renovated in the framework of these works. The conference hall was equipped with the apparatus for synchronous translation and the modern furniture. The education rooms of the 4^th building were also renovated. The gym of the second building was repaired capitally with the full reconstruction. New bathrooms with cloak-rooms and the training rooms were also refurbished.

The Minister visited one of the best research centers of the bio-nano ceramics and the materials of nano composites in Transcaucasia. The chairman of this research center is the board member of the International Ceramic Federation and European Ceramic Society, Zviad Kovziridze. The center works in several fields. The partners of the center are the University of Bremen, the bio-medical engineering lab of Japan Tohoku University and the University of Manchester.

Georgia, with the help of this center, will take the third place after the USA and Japan at the third world congress in Osaka (Japan) that will be held in November 15-18, 2010. Georgia will supposedly announce the innovation in the treatment of the cancer with particles of ceramics.
