Under the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science, an unprecedented pilot project was launched together with State Sport University – Active Sport for all Schools. Within the framework of the project, 20 sport teachers, 2 psychologists and specialized teacher from the public schools of Tbilisi and regions will be trained at State Sport University. The ministry will provide monitoring and evaluation of the process in accordance with pre-agreed criteria. If the project is successful, the module will be rolled out to all schools.
The main reason for starting this project was to promote a healthy and safe lifestyle and to improve physical training and involvement of children in sport activities. In order to make sport active for all levels of study, the process engaged equal number of girls and boys and also, pupils who are not distinguished for their sport skills. It is important to train the teachers and equip them with adequate knowledge. Consequently, the motivated and trained teacher will ensure that the majority of pupils, including the children with special education needs or physical disability are engaged in the study process and will facilitate developing healthy lifestyle and physical development rules in children.
