Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Education and Science Aleksandre Jejelava and the Minister of Agriculture Levan Davitashvili attended several events in Kachreti Vocational College “Aisi” today.

In order to get acquainted with vocational and educational programs and teaching opportunities, the future students also visited the college this day. The stands of all the professions, offered by the college to the society, were provided in the college yard. The applicants enjoyed the opportunity to test their skills in different professions and to get the detailed information about vocational education programs from the professionals, to arrange the introductory tour in the training labs and workshops of the college. The Memorandums of Understanding were also signed with several new partner organizations, meeting was organized with the students of vocational orientation course. 37 professions are taught in college “Aisi”, from which the agricultural specialties are the principal.

Registration on the vocational programs of the colleges throughout Georgia is in progress until April 8, 2017. The students interested in vocational education can register on up to 150 vocational programs.

Vocational education is completely free and accessible for everyone. Consequently, a citizen of any age has an opportunity to study the professions, which are highly-demanded on the labor market in the field of tourism, construction, agriculture, information technology and service, through the simple test and state funding.

Compared to previous years, graduates employment index has improved and reached 56% in 2016 (in 2015 it was 47%).

Vocational education is available in every region of Georgia, which in turn is a precondition for economic development of the region. 12 new branch offices of the vocational institutions had been opened since 2013 until present (Kakheti, Imereti, Samegrelo, Mtskheta-Mtianeti), which has significantly increased access to vocational education. At present vocational education is available at about 50 locations in Georgia.

Vocational education is possible in parallel with or in addition to higher education, which enables a student to improve skills or to study new profession, as the dual teaching model offers a great deal of professional practice. This increases the possibility of his / her employment in the labor market.
