The Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, the Government of Estonia, United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and Foundation “Innove” on a three-year partnership for the purpose of preschool and general education reform in Georgia.
The Ministry of Education of Estonia and the Foundation “Innove”, in cooperation with UNICEF, will assist the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia to enact the approved curriculum in the primary grades of the selected schools, and to introduce the undergraduate and graduate programs in the state universities in order to launch the professional activities for training of pre-school and general education teachers. This cooperation will include technical assistance, capacity-building, exchange of experts and sharing of experience.
For the purpose to use the experience of the Estonian Education System, which is an exemplary among the EU and other countries, the Foundation ”Innove” will bring the curriculum experts and scientists of the Estonian universities to assist the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and the state universities.
The training tour will be arranged in Estonia within the framework of the partnership, where directors and teachers of selected schools of Georgia will get acquainted with the Estonian policy and approaches regarding curriculum, monitoring and quality assurance. Other aspects of cooperation are: a) Development of social and academic policies and strategies for attraction of talented students to study teacher’s profession; b) Establishment of effective learning, including creation of developing assessment, support mechanisms; c) Provision of encouraging environment for teaching and learning; and d) Assistance to the pupils with low academic results.
The new partnership will facilitate Georgia’s approximation to the EU standards and best practices, stipulated by the Association Agreement signed between the EU and Georgia.
