The Minister of Education and Science, Dimitri Shashkini and the
Director of the National Curriculum and Assessment Center,
Natia Jokhadze introduced the current system of the schoolchildren evaluation
to the members of the Public Board. They discussed the opportunities of
advancement and development of this system. The transparent and objective
system of evaluation is the main task of the Ministry. So, the opinions of the members
of the Public Board and their participation in this process are very important.
The 10 point system of schoolchildren evaluation envisages different components
in the final grades. The school departments define the compulsory components.
The other elective components are decided according to the agreement between
the teachers and the schoolchildren.
The new rules of the textbook approval were also introduced to the
members of the Public Board at the meeting. As it is known, the Ministry has
defined the new approval rules of the textbooks in general education. The
National Curriculum and Assessment
Center developed the new
procedures and approaches of the approval of textbooks in order to eliminate
the blemishes in this process. As a result, the schools and the schoolchildren
will be supported with the books of high quality.
The procedures of the competitions, the new criteria of textbook
evaluation and other important issues were highlighted in the presentation of
the National Curriculum and Assessment
Center.
